PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Human Resources Specialist works in conjunction with the Vice President of Human Resources in the coordination of a comprehensive human resources program.
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, provides professional coordination for Easterseals comprehensive, human resources program to include, recruitment, benefits, unemployment and workers’ compensation, records management, and classification and compensation. The workday is typically spent in a climate-controlled office in Atlanta and may require overnight travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
* Implements a planning system that supports the effective delivery of human resource services to all employees of Easter Seal of North Georgia.
* Assists the Vice President of Human Resources in the consistent application of personnel policies, procedures, rules and regulations within existing legal and regulatory requirements.
* Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, coordinates employee recruitment and selection process including advertisement coordination, reviewing and screening applications and resumes, reviewing employment recommendations and reviewing salary offers, and, for those positions actively recruited under Easterseals of North Georgia’s Head Start Program, assuring preference to qualified Head Start parents in hiring decisions. He/she assists and trains supervisors on the interviewing process and the correct personnel forms to utilize.
* Conducts employee and potential employee reference/background verifications.
* Coordinates and monitors the Attendance and Leave function to include bi-monthly input employee leave sheets.
* Assists the Vice President of Human Resources in the development and delivery of training modules.
* Coordinates benefits administration to include delivery of technical assistance to managers and employees.
* Conducts new employee in-processing.
* Maintains employee records.
OTHER DUTIES:
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and one (1) year of professional human resource experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of progressively responsible human resource experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must possess knowledge of and possess the ability to apply human resource theory.
Must possess the ability to operate word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Must possess effective communication skills.
Must possess knowledge of principles of project management.
Must possess knowledge of records management.
Must possess the ability to conduct research and compile reports.
Must possess the ability to implement polices and procedures.
