What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Eastern Metal Supply of NC Inc?
Operations Manager - Charlotte, NC.
DAILY:
- Check all manifests scheduled for delivery
- Make sure all drivers are present and understand their assignments for the day
- Arrange for a substitute driver if a driver is absent
- Review driver call in log from previous day for picking and loading errors
- Ensure RMA’s are reconciled correctly.
- Solve problems from the night shift the day before
- Run manifest reports for the day
- Run payroll reports for the day
- Assign cycle counts and bin verifications
- Check the warehouse for housekeeping and safety
- Oversee activity of day shift including receiving, inventory movement
- Interface with sales on problems and special requests
- Perform start of day function to release orders for processing and shipping
- Track the progress of trucks as they make deliveries during the day (Fleetmatics)
- Interface/communicate with drivers all day on problems, discrepancies, sales request for “ETA”
- Set up trucking schedule for the following day
- Solve any trucking mechanical problems including working with our leasing company
- Solve any building problems (lighting, plumbing, a/c heat, repairs, additions, etc.)
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels in warehouse to handle workload.
- Coordinate with vendor on warehouse forklift repairs as needed
- Monitor and order warehouse supplies as needed
- Set up and finalize the daily truck routes in the routing software
- Contact drivers with overview of their route for the next day
- Solve any building problems (ie: lighting, plumbing, ac/heat, repairs, additions, etc.)
- Hire, orient, train, and supervise all warehouse employees
- Conduct performance reviews as required
- Review/approve all repair and/or supply invoices
- Oversee Rollform, Shear, Saw and PVC Coating production and maintenance
- Monitor warehouse ADP punches and approve time daily/weekly
- Solve problems
WEEKLY
- Review the payroll report for accuracy, hour's worked, overtime, vacations, sick days, etc
- Arrange for scrap dumpster (Southern Metal) to be emptied
- Check all warehouse supplies for possible reorder
- Order any truck supplies like straps, tarps, bungies, etc
- Meet with Second Shift Supervisor about any issues
- Hold meeting on productivity, housekeeping, shipments, safety, etc
- Follow up on monthly Safety Skills training not completed for the warehouse and drivers
- Solve problems
WHEN NEEDED
- Complete monthly OSHA inspection report
- Certified Forklift Trainer
- Train and certify warehouse employees on forklifts / Maintain files
- Solve problems
