JOB TITLE: Applied Behavior Analysis Apprentice
POSITION TYPE: Full time, 40 hours/week
POSITION LOCATION: Peoria Service Center, 507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria, IL 61603
POSITION SCHEDULE: Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm
Position Objective: The ABA Apprentice functions as an assistant to Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) on client teams while gaining direct and indirect experience within the ABA Department. The Apprentice provides direct treatment, evaluation, supervision, and parent training services to address behavior concerns and skill deficits of children under the direct supervision of a BCBA. The Apprenticeship is designed to gradually increase the independence of the individual as they accrue supervision hours in the process of becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Apprentices are also expected to serve in the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) role and maintain a saturation level of no less than 60% of combined RBT Direct and BCBA Billable Hours per week. All ABA Apprentices are required to meet RBT Competencies prior to being permitted to begin Apprentice Competencies.
Completing the Apprenticeship and passing the BCBA Exam does not guarantee a BCBA position at Easterseals Central Illinois.
If an Apprentice does not pass the BCBA Certification Exam after two attempts or within six months of exam eligibility, they may apply for an open Registered Behavior Technician role or any other position at Easterseals for which they are qualified.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Be enrolled in their final year (12 months from estimated graduation date) of a Verified Course Sequence at the graduate level for education in Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Maintain passing grades in all ABA coursework.
- A minimum of one year of proven successful experience in the area of pediatric behavior therapy, preferred.

Job Functions:
- Provides direct ABA therapy to clients in the capacity of an RBT.
- Develops individualized treatment plans that are accountable, measurable, and result in meaningful changes.
- Engages in quality assurance activities as directed by the Supervising BCBAs which includes the supervision of clients and staff in direct sessions, writing and updating treatment programs that match recommendations based on evaluations.
- Conducts Parent Training to assist parents in implementing programming and behavior reduction goals.
- Completes required clinical initial and re-evaluations as needed or on a minimum of 6-month basis.
- Completes all evaluations, treatment progress notes, discharge summaries, and all other required documentation in accordance with the Easterseals Documentation Policies.
Marginal Responsibilities:
- If directed, participates in onboarding, initial and ongoing training for BTs.
- Provides adequate and appropriate training and supervision to RBTs for specific clients in accordance with all applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
- Develops and presents community education and/or training as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competency Requirements
- Ensures client and family confidentiality by complying with Easterseals policy and procedure, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act) requirements, and any other privacy requirements as may be specified by referral sources, funders, or other licensing and regulatory entities.
- Be familiar with the current fieldwork experience and supervision requirements outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Demonstrated experience with families who have children with developmental delays/disabilities, preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and skill necessary to independently provide evaluations and treatment plans related to credentialed/licensed field of practice.
- Ability to oversee and direct team members’ case assignments and provide timely performance-related feedback.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Office Suite).
