Position Type: Full-time

Position Objective:

The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for ensuring Easterseals Central Illinois’ messages reach key audiences. The primary goal is to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan that reaches annual revenue targets. The strategic marketing plan includes fostering successful relationships with past, present, and future clients, referral sources, community partners, and employees to meet revenue targets. Secondary goals include managing external communication channels, managing internal communication, and staff engagement aimed at staff acquisition and retention.

Job Functions:

  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan with clear objectives to meet organizational growth targets, including professional/clinical referral strategy, earned media strategy, owned media content plan, and customer experience guidelines.
  • Drive user experience and communication excellence within the customer funnel.
  • Collaborate with the human resources team on internal communication and employee engagement to ensure consistent brand messaging focused on retention and acquisition.
  • Design marketing materials and work with other entities as needed to ensure Easterseals Central Illinois’ print and electronic materials represent the organization accurately, professionally, consistently, and positively.
  • Serve as executive editor and coordinate the production and distribution of Easterseals Central Illinois’ publications, including annual reports, newsletter, brochures, and program referral pieces.
  • Manage owned media assets, including website, social media, and resource portals.
  • Establish marketing and communication policies, including a media crisis plan, consistent with Easterseals Central Illinois’ brand policies and standards.
  • Develop specific marketing metrics and prepare regular reports for the Vice President of Development and overall Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with the Development team on content strategy and public-facing campaigns.
  • Oversee and develop marketing campaigns and create marketing materials for major Easterseals Central Illinois special events.
  • Attend special events, media events, committee meetings, and other Easterseals Central Illinois functions as appropriate.
  • Perform duties related to social media management, graphic design, website management, advertising, public relations, communication management, videography, photography, and copywriting.
  • Cultivate and maintain courteous and positive relationships with clients, volunteers, donors, colleagues, and all stakeholders, embodying the organization's values in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership within the team while also collaborating seamlessly as a team member, willingly accepting and implementing direction as needed.

Marginal Responsibilities:

  • Attend and assist in preparing strategic materials for the Development and Marketing Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Develop an annual marketing budget and control expenditures against the approved annual operating budget.
  • Provide marketing support to the Autism Collective.
  • Work with the Community Outreach Manager to establish and maintain an active Easterseals Central Illinois speaker’s bureau, including board, volunteers, clients, and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a major in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of successful experience in public relations, marketing, and communications.

Competency Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing websites and social media platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and public speaking skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Office Suite).

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must have visual ability sufficient to read and complete written correspondence, reports, etc., and computer screen information.
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp, handle, or feel.
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and reaching.
  • Work requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to store, retrieve, transport, and deliver materials for meetings, special events, and others.
  • Ability to drive to all Easterseals Central Illinois centers and service sites within a 100-mile radius, as needed.

Work Environment

  • Routinely works in office environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Variety of off-site environments and locations, including the outdoors, in all types of weather.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
