JOB TITLE: Benefits Navigator
DEPARTMENT: Employment Department
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Employment Services

PAY RANGE: $21.5/Hour
POSITION STATUS: Hourly, non-exempt

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Benefits Navigator assists job seekers in understanding and accessing various employment and training resources. This role ensures that individuals have the necessary resources and support to achieve sustainable employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet agency needs.
Ø Be positioned strategically at the greeter station in the Bend and Redmond WorkSource Oregon offices during regular business hours.
Ø Be the first point of contact for customers, offering immediate assistance and guidance in reducing barriers to employment for jobseekers.
Ø Provide individualized support, tailored to the diverse needs of customers, including those facing unique challenges.
Ø Adapt communication styles and methods, offering virtual services for increased accessibility.
Ø Use the software provided to maintain an online list of local area resources for customers.
Ø Assist customers in accessing local, state, and federal benefits and resources to lower barriers to finding employment and provide referrals to internal and external partners for further support as identified during one-on-one meetings with customers.
Ø Conducting regular meetings with customers, monitoring progress, and providing referrals as needed. This will include identifying barriers and connecting customers with resources to overcome those barriers.
Ø Collaborating with local partners to receive, screen, and process referrals.
Ø Accurately inputting and maintaining customer data and provide quarterly reports.
Ø Utilizing technology platforms for customer support, resource sharing, data collection, and communication.
Ø Attending required training, meetings, and conferences.
Ø Collaborating with other WorkSource Benefit Navigators in the state to share best practices.
Ø Facilitating outreach to community partners to foster understanding of available WorkSource Oregon services.
Ø Maintaining communication with partner agencies and colleges.
Ø Assisting with customer applications and referrals.
Ø Developing and maintaining relevant information, data, and documentation.
Ø Ensuring that all program outreach materials are approved prior to print and are
available in both English and Spanish, as well as written in plain or easily understood language.
Confidentiality:
Ø Handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion. Maintaining confidentiality is a must.
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
Ø Environment: Operate in an environment with frequent interruptions due to walk-ins and staff or participant needs.
Ø Prioritization and Deadlines: Must be able to prioritize tasks and work under deadlines.
Ø Physical Activity: Occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
Ø Repetitive Motion: Frequent repetitive motion of hands and arms.
Ø Office Environment: Daily office work environment may contain dust, heat, cold, noise, etc.
Minimum Qualification
Ø Bachelors’ degree in vocational rehabilitation, labor relations, social work, human resources, or related field or 2 years equivalent experience.
Ø Demonstrated interest in working with the community and the ability to be compassionate and understanding.
Ø Demonstrated ability to work with others and communicate effectively.
Ø Ability to work with individuals of varying incomes, skill levels, experiences and cultures.
Ø A professional appearance.
Ø Strong information technology skills.
Ø Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
OTHER REQUIRMENTS
Ø Driving throughout service area s is required including Deshutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties.
Ø MVR background check
Ø Valid driver’s license
Ø Maintain vehicle liability insurance if driving personal vehicle
