We are currently seeking a Finishing Manager for a company that designs and manufactures high-end, customizable faucets and bath accessories. This is a full-time, on-site role at our Huntington Beach, CA facility, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Position Summary
The Finishing Manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, and managing a team of 30-35 direct reports across both shifts within the Finishing and Plating departments. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, optimizing processes, and driving team performance to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the Finishing and Plating departments, providing guidance and direction.
- Offer indirect supervision to Assembly, Shipping, Picking, and Receiving teams.
- Train, mentor, and organize employees to efficiently complete finishing processes.
- Address and resolve operational issues encountered by team members.
- Ensure accuracy in reading, counting, performing basic math, and writing legibly.
- Foster a cooperative and communicative work environment.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely product completion.
- Manage employee work schedules, approve/deny time-off requests, and oversee attendance.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and recommend personnel and pay adjustments.
- Perform corrective maintenance on finishing equipment (e.g., sandblasting machines, polishing lathes, powder coating spray booths).
- Execute additional assignments as directed by management.
Requirements
- Fluency in English; Spanish fluency is highly preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Problem-solving capabilities with the ability to implement solutions independently.
- Strong attention to detail, dependability, and persistence.
- Ability to delegate tasks and manage a multi-person team effectively.
- Familiarity with desktop technology (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to comply with and enforce all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
Work Environment & Safety
- Exposure to heat, cold, dust, and moderate noise levels.
- Work with chemical solutions, power tools, and forced air.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Managing time and attendance.
- Monitoring team performance and meeting production goals.
- Ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
- Conducting performance reviews and handling disciplinary actions.
Decision-Making & Supervision
- Requires sound judgment to make decisions within established procedures.
- Works under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Manager.
- Expected to meet individual and team production goals after training.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of supervisory experience managing a team of 5 or more employees.
- 2 years of leadership experience in a fast-paced setting.
- 2 years of powder coating and polishing experience preferred.
