The Executive Director is the key management leader of EMO.
The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization as well as providing physical, emotional and spiritual care for uninsured and underinsured individuals in Cabell county and the surrounding geographic area regardless of their financial status. Other key duties include leadership and oversight of fundraising, marketing, board development, and community outreach.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated experience building effective, strong relationships with community organizations and leaders as well as coordinating relationships between the community, potential physicians, dentists and volunteers. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to plan and organize multiple work tasks as well as good interpersonal communication skills are essential. Proven record of recruiting and maintaining medical personnel and health care personnel staff. Previous experience in a managerial position in a non-profit organization.
Professional qualifications needed:
A Masters degree (or higher) in business management, non-profit management, health care administration
Transparent and high integrity leadership
Experience with grant application, grant management, and reporting
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
High-level strategic thinking and planning with the ability to convey a vision of EMO’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
Strong public speaking ability
A history of successfully growing a mission-driven organization
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Board Governance: Works with board in order to fulfill the organization mission.
a. Responsible for leading EMO in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission and growth as defined by the Board of Directors.
b. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
a. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of EMO to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization with input from Board Treasurer and EMO
Executive Committee.
b. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
c. Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support EMO’s mission.
3) Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
a. Responsible for implementation of EMO programs that carry out the organization's mission.
b. Responsible for strategic planning, including implementation and evaluation, to ensure that EMO can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
c. Responsible for the enhancement of EMO’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
4) Organization Operations. Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.
a. Responsible for effective administration of EMO's operations.
b. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
c. Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
5) Fundraising. Responsible for growing EMO’s fundraising operations strategically in compliance with the mission.
a. Grant research, writing, administration
b. Donor database management, acknowledgement, and receipts
c. Event planning and logistical support.
6) Marketing and Public Relations
a. Serve as the primary spokesperson to EMOs constituents, the media, and the general public
b. Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance EMO’s mission
c. Oversee marketing, communications and social media presence
d. Website design, updates, SEO and content management
e. Responsible for e-newsletters, writing promotional copy, press releases and appeal letters
f. Graphic design - brochures, sponsor materials, event materials, logos and promotional items
g. Track and compile EMO data and create and distribute annual reports
