What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Aid Specialist position at Eckerd College?

Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Financial Aid Specialist to join our enrollment management team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. The specialist is customer-focused providing exceptional service to students and families with regards to inquiries regarding financial aid.

The incumbent possesses an ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience, both in oral and written form, as well as the ability to handle difficult conversations with professional composure. The specialist will be skilled in data entry and have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and G-Suite as well as working knowledge of student information systems. This position must be able to manage a higher volume of work at peak times and have the ability to prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional customer service via response or outreach from financial aid office email account, phone calls and inquiries to prospective students/parents, other departments or outside agencies.

  • Manages Financial Aid communications plan.

  • Supervises departmental Federal Work Scholars Program including scheduling and training.

  • Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail in a timely manner.

  • Aids with the review for accuracy and dissemination of financial award letters.

  • Assists with file maintenance in conjunction with Financial Aid staff.

  • Ensures that daily financial aid office operations are accomplished effectively and efficiently

  • Collaborates with departments and staff members to foster good working relationships and accurate information is being disseminated regarding financial aid.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or at least two years of related work experience, preferably in a Financial Aid office. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
