ECLC of New Jersey’s affiliated not-for-profit organizations serving adults with special needs is actively seeking a skilled Controller to manage our financial records, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the organization's overall financial health. The organization includes a supported employment agency, an adult day program, and a fundraising organization. This is a full-time, twelve-month position available immediately (pending Criminal History Clearance Requirements), with a competitive salary and generous benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 403(b) retirement. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students and clients.
Responsibilities:
· Supervise accounting staff (AR, AP and Payroll) for timely and accurate financial functions and be as backup when needed.
· Manage multiple revenue sources including Medicaid funding in two of the organizations.
· Ensures precision in intercompany transactions, fixed asset schedule, 990 filing, and various other schedules.
· Assists with ongoing major functions and requirements within the Finance/Accounting area including:
o Budgets, Audit statements, schedules and preparation
o Quarterly close and preparation of financial statements
o Conducts bank reconciliations for review by Chief Financial Officer
o Training of department personnel during new system implementation and/or transition of positions.
o Pension census. Prepares data for annual compliance testing and calculations.
· Handles all other duties or special projects as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Chief Financial Officer/Business Manager.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
· Minimum of five years accounting experience, with a minimum of three years in supervisory capacity.
· Strong computer, oral, written and interpersonal skills.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and MS Office, especially Excel.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
· Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
