Position Summary
The Laboratory Assistant I processes outpatient test requests.
As a Laboratory Assistant I, You Will
- Perform venous and capillary collection of blood specimens for analysis and process specimens for analysis and reference testing. With supervision, you may perform waived and moderately complex testing and chain-of-custody drug collections. Performs various other support services for the laboratory as assigned and maintain required documentation to comply with accrediting agencies.
- Perform duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Support the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.
- High School, Equivalent (GED), or higher
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended
- 6 months experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting, physician office, outpatient clinic, or other medical setting
- National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy Examination (CLPlb)
- American Society of Clinical Pathologists-- Phlebotomy Technician Examination [PBT(ASCP)]
- International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences (IAPS)
- National Phlebotomy Association (NPA)
- American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT)
- National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE)
- National Phlebotomy Solutions (NPS)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT), or another national certification as approved by Laboratory Service Line leadership
- 40 hours a week
- Monday - Friday (7 am - 7 pm)
