Overview
Edgewater is seeking a Ruby Developer to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. As an Application Engineer you will work with a team developing and/or maintaining web-based applications using tools such as Ruby on Rails or Java.
Responsibilities
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities
- Translate detailed design into application systems
- Test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product
- Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation
- Enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality
- Provide technical direction to engineers to ensure program deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- BS/BA and six years of experience in Linux environments, relational database, experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Data Structures, and Algorithms.
- In lieu of degree, an additional 6 years of experience is applicable
- US. citizenship is required per Contract to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy Clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L clearance.
- Knowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident response.
- Six years’ experience working in full stack application development
- Six years’ experience developing web-based applications using tools - such as Ruby on Rails or Java
- Experience using Agile development methodologies
- Effective oral and written communications skills along with a strong customer service commitment
- Familiar with information security best practices
Desired skills:
- Experience integrating front end and back-end APIs to allow agnostic use of other front-end frameworks
- Experience with Rails testing frameworks such as Rspec and Git
