As the Unit Manager, you are entrusted with the responsibility of caring for our residents, families, co-workers, and visitors. The primary purpose of your position is to manage the staffing needs, provide supervision of nursing staff, and provide direct resident care. You are entrusted to provide responsible care and to continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results while maintaining the highest degree of quality care while following all state, federal, and facility policies.
Job Function
As Unit Manager, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. You would be responsible for providing direct resident care in accordance with established plans. This job description does not list all the duties of the job. Duties and Responsibilities
- Act in the capacity as a team leader in a long term nursing facility.
- Provide regular resident status updates to appropriate personnel.
- Conduct and document complete data collection of each resident's medical status upon admission and throughout the resident's course of treatment.
- Assist in the development and implementation of an individualized treatment plan for each assigned resident.
- Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of health care guidelines.
- Maintain ongoing communications with physicians concerning resident care as well as family members.
- Complete required documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring nursing staff.
- Provide supervision, counseling, education as needed to unit nursing staff.
- Assist with completion of annual performance appraisals for all unit nursing personnel, including competency checklists.
- Assist nursing personnel to act in compliance with corporate policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor compliance with resident record documentation requirements.
- Act as a resource person for nursing personnel and other staff.
- Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Communicate timely and effectively with family.
- Actively participate in the quality improvement process for the facility.
- Schedule, conduct, and document regular meetings with staff.
- Ensure all orders are carried out and followed through as ordered by physician.
- Follow up with resident care issues.
This is a salary position with Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm schedule, 3 paid holidays a year, and on call weekend rotation.
Education
Graduate/Completion of approved/accredited school of nursing.
Valid license as an RN or LPN in the state of Ohio.
Experience
Must have a minimum (3) years nursing experience.
Minimum one (1) year experience in nursing administration is preferred.
