General Summary:
Team Edgeworks strives to build strong competitors, lifelong climbers, and an involved community by encouraging a healthy work ethic, integrity, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.
Edgeworks Climbing Tacoma’s Youth Team Coach is primarily responsible for facilitating team practices with the Head Coach to best prepare competitors for local through national level competitions. The Team Coach will report to the Head Coach and Edgeworks' Director of Youth Programs to ensure the highest quality experience for the climbing team and the best overall results at competitions.
Core Functions:
- Demonstrate an inclusive coaching philosophy focused on developing confidence, ability and growth on and off the walls.
- Work in conjunction with the Head Coach to execute developmentally-appropriate training curriculums for Team athletes at all levels, ensuring safety is at the forefront.
- Foster team camaraderie and cultivate a culture of open communication.
Principal Activities:
CLIMBING TEAM
- Implement structured seasonal training plans, goals and follow-up for both team and individuals.
- Attend practices and assist with local competitions.
- Assist with ongoing communication with team members and parents regarding schedule, expectations, and performance.
Qualifications:
- Youth coaching experience required.
- Competitive climbing experience required.
- Advanced indoor rock climbing knowledge and experience required.
- Must be USAC Certified Coach or have the ability to acquire certification within 90 days.
- Demonstrate skills to teach movement to a wide range of skills and body types.
- Route setting experience preferred, but not required.
Employment Status:
- Part-Time (Hours may include working events, weekends, projects and/or working before/after regular hours)
- Weekday shifts are typically from 3:45pm-7:15pm
