Meal Delivery Driver

Job Summary

Edibles Rex is an elite catering company based in the city of Detroit. We are also school meal provides to various charter schools in the metropolitan area. Edibles Rex has been serving clients with excellent meals and service for over 25 years. We are seeking Delivery Drivers to share our mission of safely delivering delectable meals to our clients. The Delivery Driver will work as a part of a team to deliver meals each day to school lunch programs or Summer Meet Up to Eat Up Program. The Delivery Driver is a critical member of the Edibles Rex team and he/she will interact with school sites on a daily bases, serving customers and representing the company throughout the community.

Essential Job Functions

• Deliver excellent customer service to our clients and students with every delivery
• Load and unload meals in a safe and professional manner daily
• Read, and understand pack sheets, and delivery items required before loading trucks
• Load trucks using the “first in last out” methodology
• Communicate any missing food items with kitchen staff before leaving for delivery route
• Deliver meals in a professional, helpful and respectful manner
• Properly place and secure meals when distributed to schools and other locations, including maintaining appropriate temperature levels for all food
• Promptly communicate any food or service issue to immediate supervisor and kitchen
• Problem solve as needed to ensure clients satisfaction with deliveries
• Adhere to Edibles Rex attendance, code of standards and uniform policies

Minimum Requirements

• All applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid state of Michigan Chauffeur License or CDL and current DOT card
• Experienced and dependable driver (catering/food delivery experience preferred)
• Clean driving record and ability to safely maneuver and operate box truck
• Attention to detail, especially with regards to counting accurately and organizing deliveries/equipment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain good relations with school customers
• Takes pride in maintaining a clean, orderly environment, including the delivery vehicles, and delivering a high quality product to schools
• Reliable transportation and flexible availability

Physical Demands

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, twist, squat, and safely operate wheeled carts and dollies
• Observes all traffic laws and posted speed limits, and cell phone usage law
• Drive safely in all weather conditions
• Frequently climbing in and out, loading and unloading a truck

Work Environment

• Indoors, outdoors, in and out of delivery truck frequently
• Driving and delivering in various weather conditions
• Frequently gathering items from kitchen freezers and coolers on a daily bases
• Busy dock area where drivers load and unload trucks
