Job Description: Under the direction of Education to Employment Partners and supported through grant funding from rootEd Alliance, the Postsecondary Success Advisor will work directly with primarily high school seniors, and their parents, to increase post-secondary enrollment and preparation for career success. The Advisor will contribute to program objectives by developing, implementing, and coordinating advising activities to support all students in a designated rural high school and by providing an awareness of post-secondary and career opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with high school College and Career Counselor to support the initiatives of the school that are geared towards senior postsecondary readiness.
- Meet with each senior individually during the school year and beyond for post-secondary education and career planning.
- Assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid or scholarship forms.
- Meet with parents and/or families of seniors to provide information, identify needs, and if necessary, overcome barriers.
- Refer students to a network of campus and community service providers, as needed.
- Assist students in applying and completing applications for post-secondary programs.
- Assist students in completing forms for ASVAB, SAT, ACT, TSIA, and other college and career readiness measures.
- Support the school and students by monitoring and proctoring college and career related exams.
- Assist students in identifying internship and apprenticeship opportunities. Collaborate with the College Career Counselor to plan events, presentations, workshops, and tours for students and their families.
- Collect, input, and analyze data; prepare scheduled and specialized reports; maintain program records and statistical information utilizing special software and related programs. Provide written reports, as requested.
- Utilize social media, text messaging platforms and other communication platforms to provide information and resources, and support the maintenance of school communication by sending updates for school newsletters and websites.
- Attend meetings and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, community members, other program advisors, and program staff to ensure a positive experience for all.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or above
At least three years of experience in working with students
Familiarity with Coastal Bend education institutions and career opportunities
Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Proficient knowledge and ability to use Google Drive and Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with using CRM databases such as Salesforce and/or Datatel (and/or willingness to attend trainings on programs and platforms
Clear background check
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required
Willing to travel some for school related trips or conferences and occasional evening events
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.00 - $26.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
