Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:
A leading manufacturer in the South Bend, IN area is seeking a hands-on and strategic Maintenance Manager to oversee equipment reliability, lead preventive maintenance efforts, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced production facility. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring equipment uptime and supporting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and support a team of skilled maintenance technicians across all shifts.
- Build and manage a strong preventive and reliability-centered maintenance program.
- Drive compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal safety policies (LOTO, PPE, hot work, etc.).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems—especially related to corrugated and converting equipment.
- Maximize use of the CMMS for tracking work orders, preventive maintenance, and inventory control.
- Collaborate with production leaders to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize downtime.
- Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure quality and safety compliance.
- Maintain records of spare parts, tools, and supplies to ensure operational readiness.
- Monitor and optimize plant utilities, including compressed air, water systems, and boilers.
- Track performance KPIs, analyze trends, and implement cost-effective improvements.
- Provide regular updates to plant leadership on maintenance activities and team performance.
What You Bring:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of industrial maintenance leadership experience
- PLC troubleshooting skills
- Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
- CMMS experience (work order tracking, PM scheduling, reporting)
- Ability to lead and hold a team accountable
Preferred:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Industrial Technology or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in the corrugated packaging industry
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs
- Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, and crouching
- Visual abilities including close vision, depth perception, and color distinction
Work Environment:
- Exposure to loud machinery, heat, dust, and elevated work areas
- PPE required: safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection
- Fast-paced, physically active environment with occasional off-hours support needed
