Job Summary:

A leading manufacturer in the South Bend, IN area is seeking a hands-on and strategic Maintenance Manager to oversee equipment reliability, lead preventive maintenance efforts, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced production facility. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for ensuring equipment uptime and supporting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and support a team of skilled maintenance technicians across all shifts.
• Build and manage a strong preventive and reliability-centered maintenance program.
• Drive compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal safety policies (LOTO, PPE, hot work, etc.).
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems—especially related to corrugated and converting equipment.
• Maximize use of the CMMS for tracking work orders, preventive maintenance, and inventory control.
• Collaborate with production leaders to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize downtime.
• Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Maintain records of spare parts, tools, and supplies to ensure operational readiness.
• Monitor and optimize plant utilities, including compressed air, water systems, and boilers.
• Track performance KPIs, analyze trends, and implement cost-effective improvements.
• Provide regular updates to plant leadership on maintenance activities and team performance.

What You Bring:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• 3 years of industrial maintenance leadership experience
• PLC troubleshooting skills
• Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
• Hands-on mechanical and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
• CMMS experience (work order tracking, PM scheduling, reporting)
• Ability to lead and hold a team accountable

Preferred:

• Associate’s degree or higher in Industrial Technology or related field
• 5 years of relevant experience
• Prior experience in the corrugated packaging industry

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs
• Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, and crouching
• Visual abilities including close vision, depth perception, and color distinction

Work Environment:

• Exposure to loud machinery, heat, dust, and elevated work areas
• PPE required: safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection
• Fast-paced, physically active environment with occasional off-hours support needed
