Maintenance Mechanic I (Painter) - Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Painter will paint walls, equipment, buildings, and other structural surfaces, using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. Will remove old paint to prepare surface prior to painting and mix colors and oils to obtain desired color or consistence, in accordance with the Joint Commission, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Conducts periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair. Assists with the identification of parts needed for replacement and places orders, as necessary. Completes all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Technicians in this classification will be monitored and supervised closely. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast paced and dynamic environment.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

1. Receives work order or instructions for a paint job or another task; assembles all needed equipment and transports it to the work site; may drive to different properties in the same area.
2. Prepares surfaces to be painted, smooth surfaces with sandpaper, brushes, steel wool, etc. and removes old paint with paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes.
3. Fills holes in surfaces such as nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or another filler; may wash surfaces before painting.
4. Selects paints and/or mixes paints and may add thinners to gain the desired color and texture.
5. Removes fixtures and other items from walls; erects scaffolding or sets up ladders as needed.
6. Applies paint with brushes, rollers, sprayers, or other standard equipment to walls, ceilings, doors, baseboards, molding, vents, porches, sheds, garages, and other surfaces.
7. Cleans up equipment and painted area after completion; replaces fixtures.
8. Repairs sheetrock, caulks windows, and cleans air vents as needed.
9. Implements preventative maintenance measures.
10. Maintains inventory of repair equipment and supplies
11. Completes inspections of offices and clinical areas under the direction of the team lead and/or supervisor.
12. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and facilities to include scheduled maintenance repairs and calibrations.
13. Assists in maintaining the overall working condition and appearance of building and grounds of facility while maintaining a safe environment.
14. Conducts processes and procedures for receiving material and goods in a manner that ensures accurate and efficient recording and delivery of facility items.
15. Understands and complies with all system policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations.
16. Familiarity with and responds to emergencies and drills as assigned in the Emergency Disaster Plan. Responsible for knowing the Facility Fire and Disaster Plan
17. Keeps tools, equipment, and paint storeroom clean, organized, and safe.
18. Meets all in-service requirements.
19. General installation of pictures, office equipment and minor carpenter repairs
20. Performs other maintenance duties as requested.

Requirements

Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion high school or completion of post-secondary certification, trade, etc.

Formal Training: High School Diploma with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

Work Experience: An apprenticeship and/or formal training in an area of specialty. 1 - 3 plus years of experience for entry into this position. Experienced in operating a variety of hand tool equipment for usage in facility repairs and/or experience as a Painter.

Tools and Equipment Used: Calculator, personal computer, telephone, copier, printer, internet. Paint brushes, rollers, roller frames, sandpaper, sending poles, vacuum, razor knife, skill saw, table saw, tape measure, square, drill, ladder, and scaffold, etc.
