Summary: The organization is El Puente, a nonprofit, community-based organization that promotes leadership for peace and justice through the engagement of members (youth and adults) in the arts, education, scientific research, wellness, and environmental action. This building is our organization headquarters, as well as home to one of our high school afterschool programs, and our environmental/wellness initiatives.
Primary Job Functions:

Facilitate homework help and provide content-specific academic support to help students move towards academic and intellectual mastery (1-on-1 or in small groups).

Design literacy interventions to build reading/writing skills.

Work with parents to build partnerships and share resources to continue academic focus at home.

Collects, analyzes, and develops action plans on participant data
-
Design and facilitate study skills and test-prep curricula.
-
Help escort youth to the center from school.
-
Work with the Program Coordinator and Director weekly to discuss the work plan.

Attend regular staff meetings.
-
Attend staff training.
-
Work collaboratively with staff and youth in creating educational activities after homework.

Coordinate with the program and school-based staff for portfolio presentations and exam preparation.

Perform administrative duties such as attending supervision/professional development meetings, maintaining attendance reports and conducting youth/program evaluations.

Participate in a team approach of mentoring youth through a membership support process.

Participate in El Puente's human rights activities.
Secondary Job Functions:

Clean and sanitize work space on a consistent basis such as but not limited to:

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

College graduate, or currently working toward an undergraduate degree preferably in education, but majoring in education isn't a necessary requirement - Experience in tutoring/providing academic support to youth ages 6-14.

Experience in facilitating youth-led projects.

Experience with designing integrated theme-based and/or human rights curricula desirable.

Must be able to provide highly sufficient support w/ math and English subjects for grade levels K-12th.

Spanish language skills are desirable.
