What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hotel Night Auditor--Part Time position at Eldridge Hotel?
Summary: The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing and closing business accounts for hotel, restaurant, bar and banquets
Night Auditor Hours: 11pm-7am
Ensures that all end-of-day activities have been successfully executed by team members in all departments
Must have knowledge of Excel spreadsheets with some accounting skills
Registers guests & assigns rooms. Accommodates special guest requests
Thoroughly understands & adheres to proper credit, check cashing, &
cash handling policies & procedures.
Maintains the cash drawer throughout the shift
Post charges to guest accounts

Handles paid-outs
Completes guest check-out procedures & settles guest accounts
Handles cash, credit cards, and direct
billing requests properly
Balances credit card totals during shift closing
Balances cash at the close of the shift and makes cash deposit
Processes reservations by telephone or e-mail
Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
Knows all safety & emergency procedures. Is aware of accident
prevention policies.
The Eldridge Hotel has been an integral part of the history of Lawrence since its founding. The original building on this site was the Free State Hotel, built in 1855 by settlers from the New England Emigrant Aid Society. The Free State Hotel was intended to be temporary quarters for those settlers who came here from Boston and other areas while their homes were being built. It was named the Free State Hotel to make clear the intent of those early settlers: that Kansas should enter the union as a free state.
