Position Summary
The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) leads the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis efforts. This role is responsible for developing financial strategies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insights that drive business performance. The Director collaborates with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making and ensure financial health and regulatory compliance.
Location: Houston, TX (hybrid)
Principal Duties
• Direct and oversee the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
• Develop and implement financial models and tools to support strategic initiatives and operational efficiency
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership
• Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and presentations
• Participate in the development of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner with business units to align financial planning with organizational goals
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements to enhance profitability
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
• Manage and mentor a team of financial analysts and planning professionals
• Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting processes, and forecasting methodologies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of corporate finance & accounting principles - deep understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory compliance
• Knowledge of budgeting & forecasting processes, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning
• Knowledge of financial modeling - advanced understanding of how to build, interpret, and stress-test financial models
• Knowledge of strategic planning methodologies and business performance frameworks
• Knowledge of Consumer Product Distribution Industry – awareness of trends, benchmarks, and key drivers
• Adept with ERP & Financial Systems - Familiarity with SAP, TPM platforms (Upclear Blue Planner), and BI tools like Power BI, Nielsen, or IRI
• Advanced Excel Skills - Proficient in complex functions, pivot tables, macros, and scenario analysis
• Understanding of due diligence, valuations, and capital investment analysis
• Strong ability to synthesize large datasets and uncover actionable insights
• Expertise in interpreting financial statements, ratios, and performance metrics
• Ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
• Skill in aligning financial planning with corporate strategy
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage deadlines and deliverables.
• Adept at identifying financial issues and developing effective solutions
• Ability to partner with business leaders to influence operational decisions through financial insight
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments with shifting priorities
• Demonstrated commitment to precision, compliance, and data governance
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
•Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or CPA/CFA certification (preferred)
•Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis
•At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within a finance department

•Ability to work extended hours during peak periods (e.g., budget season, year-end close)
•Occasional travel may be required for meetings or training
•Must pass background and reference checks
