Job Summary
The CNC Programmer will create machining programs for CNC machines that will provide quality parts in the minimum amount of time and cost. Machining to include 3, 4, and 5 axis, vertical and horizontal. Limited amount of 5 axis water jet programming. Analyze blueprints, electronic files, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Create clean and concise G code machining programs for CNC machines using MasterCam 2020 or newer
- Plan, select tools, design machining fixtures, select feeds and speeds, programming operations including verification of toolpath of given tasks to achieve the desired quality at optimized cost, consistent with the policies, goals, and objectives of the company
- Responsible for setup sheets with tool lists for N/C programs
- Design fixturing, using Solidworks, for holding of parts during machining operations
- Design tooling, using Solidworks, for forming of parts by press brake
- Designs to be created with safety and ease use for operators in mind
- Assist program managers & M.E.s with tool selection and processes for machining parts
- Assure programs and associated documentation and files are saved per provided procedures and instructions
- Other duties may be assigned as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be proficient in reading drawings, technical instructions, and thorough knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
- Minimum of 5 years, hands on, shop experience in a machine shop environment
- Minimum of 3 years CNC programming experience on large precision parts and tooling for construction equipment and other advanced industries
- Proficient in MasterCam 2020 and above
- Proficient with SolidWorks software
- Thorough knowledge of shop math and measuring techniques is required
- Must be able to read drawings and engineering specifications
- High School Diploma plus education in trade schools and/or certified training in programming software
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers
- Must have good oral & written communication skills
- Ability to apply common sense and be able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems by thinking outside the box in manufacturing process
- Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet and Microsoft Word software
