Barista - Part Time (experience required)

We are seeking an engaging, courteous, and passionate experienced Barista who should be committed to providing customers with excellent service and a smile. Experience a plus!

*Average pay $11-$15 per hour after tips. (credit card tips are pooled, cash collected every shift)

Please Note: this position’s compensation includes a guarantee $3/hour tip. This means you will never make less than $11 depending on your starting rate; however, you could make more if tips are higher!

*Base pay & position will depend on experience & avability.

Part time job (i.e. 3-4 shifts per week, approx 4-5 hour shifts, up to 15-18 hours, can vary. More hours possible and with more experience and seniority.)

In order to maintain our flexible scheduling, we require that everyone be available for any shift as well as weekends. However, we will work with school schedules if possible. Note: this position's compensation includes tips.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm. Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm.

Please note: Shift range from afternoon to closing. With experience there may be some opening and day shifts.

Barista Responsibilities:

Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering their questions, and accepting orders and payments.

Learn the real hands barista experience, the way lattes should be made; from grinding, tamping, pouring, streaming and latte art, no automatic machines.

Making breakfast and lunch specialty items, prepping, cooking and cleaning.

Master the art of getting to know your regular customers orders.

Preparing drinks and food items, cooking and prepping, brewing coffee and tea, and serving drinks and food items to the customers.

Replenishing items in display cases.

Treat the store as your home; able to notice the small details (ex: the coffee lids are almost out or you’re running low on milk, something needs cleaned) without anyone needing to tell you first. Being honest in your day to day operations, smiling and talking to the customers. Understanding this is a small, local coffee shop.

Cleaning and restocking bar and kitchen work areas at all times.

Cleaning, taking out garbage and restocking cafe area.

Ensure that the products are rotated on a first in/first out basis.

Ability to stand for periods of time.

Ability to bend, reach, stoop and lift up to 30 pounds.

Ability to remain calm in a fast paced environment.

Adhering to all food safety regulation and quality controls.

Food handlers permit required within 2 weeks of hiring.

Other Responsibilities

May include light grocery shopping for the coffee shop.

Keeping note on inventory and informing manager so inventory stays stocked.

Other tasks as needed.

Skills:

Previous Barista required. Please do not apply unless you have barista experience.

Passionate about coffee.

Excellent punctuality and reliable transportation to and from work.
