Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Concrete Construction Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. This position is available full-time or part-time, offering flexibility for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial concrete projects, ensuring profitability while maintaining quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction estimating processes, excellent negotiation skills, and hands-on experience in commercial concrete work. The estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bids and proposals that align with project specifications and client expectations.
Compensation:
$40 per hour (negotiable, based on experience)
Duties
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial concrete projects using tools such as Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating software
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to determine scope of work and required resources
- Collaborate with project management teams to develop accurate pricing strategies and budgets
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather necessary data for estimates
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards
- Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process to ensure estimates remain within budget parameters
- Assist in the development of proposals, bid packages, and contract documents
- Implement cost control measures during project execution to maximize profitability
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials costs, and construction techniques related to concrete work
- Support project management teams during project execution by providing cost analysis and change order evaluations
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically within commercial concrete or heavy civil sectors
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other estimating or project management software tools
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors
- Knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, and construction management principles
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to accurately interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Effective communication skills for working with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required
