JOB TITLE Playroom Attendant

JOB SUMMARY Cares for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

JOB DUTIES       

SUPERVISORY  N/A

RESPONSIBILITY

1. Provide a safe and positive environment for children.
2. Take immediate action in any unsafe situations.
3. Remain highly observant of any potentially unsafe situations.
4. Exhibit professional behavior and appearance at all times.
5. Maintain cleanliness of playroom throughout scheduled shift.
6. Be knowledgeable and complete all cleaning and closing procedures.
7. Welcome parents and children with enthusiasm, eye contact and positive attitude.
8. Interact, read books, sing, and play with children.
9. Acknowledge parents and children upon departure from playroom.
10. Consult with management before approaching parents with concerns.
11. Promote and participate in department and club events.
12.  Maintain a customer service attitude of flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of duties within the playroom.
13.  Complete infant/child CPR certification and orientation.
14. Attend departmental meetings.
15.  Encourage appropriate use of toys, using positive guidance to achieve desirable behavior.
16.  Follow established disciplined guidelines.
17. Contribute to stimulating, creative and warm early enrichments.
18. Use good judgment in any situation with child to ensure happiness and safety.
19.  Performs such other duties as assigned.

EQUIPMENT USED   Broom, microwave, cleaning supplies, changing table, bottle warmer, infant swing, exersaucer

WORKING  CONDITIONS Lifting 5 lbs to 30 lbs.  Bending and moving to sweep, pick up toys ,walking, standing for lengthy amounts of time while holding a child to settle them

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE Prior experience working with children preferred.  Experience may include babysitting, parenting, or other childcare services.

SKILLS/

QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates good judgment in handling children of all ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.  When to change diapers, how to console a child.  This also includes the ability to problem solve when finding out why a child or infant is upset and using logical thinking when solving these issues. 

 Good oral communication is necessary when dealing with children and talking with members.  Must be able to speak clearly, keep emotions under control, and give and welcome feedback.  Greet members and children with positive attitude and happy demeanor.

 Multi-tasking abilities – must be able to answer phone, hold a child, check a member in, etc…
