Job Summary

Elizabeth Seton High School seeks a part-time Math teacher to teach Mathematical Applications. This course is designed to further student understanding of the content initially presented in Algebra II and Geometry. It is designed to prepare students for entry into a college-level, credit-bearing mathematics course. In addition to college-level learning strategies, topics include problem-solving, logic, statistics, probability, and applications of algebraic functions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises students in the classroom on school grounds and educational trips.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Create a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of learning that helps foster students' intellectual, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide daily instruction, including clear learning outcomes, well-designed lessons, and high-quality assessments aligned with ESHS curriculum and standards.
  • Practical technology skills, including using Seton's learning management systems (Blackbaud and Google Classroom).
  • Serve as an advisor in the Student Advisory Program.
  • Demonstrate ability to implement best practices in data-driven instruction, including inquiry and hands-on activities, demonstrations, lectures, and discussions.
  • Communicate regularly with families to identify students' talents, interests, and needs and update parents regarding students' achievements and progress.
  • Active commitment to enhancing a school community through involvement in committees and student life activities.
  • Collaborate with school-based staff and throughout the Elizabeth Seton High School community in staff meetings, regular analysis sessions, and professional learning designed to enhance student's learning experience and increase student achievement.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • A desire to teach in a Catholic School committed to Catholic education and the formation of young women in Christian character.
  • Ability to teach all levels of study, from College Preparatory courses to Advanced Placement.
  • Exemplary character and demonstrated service to others.
  • Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to implement best practices in data-driven instruction, including inquiry and hands-on activities, demonstrations, lectures, and discussions.
  • Demonstrate creativity and an ability to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Willingness and ability to contribute to an atmosphere and environment conducive to our girls' academic, spiritual, social, and emotional development.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in math, math education, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must navigate school facilities and lead students to safety in an emergency.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
