Grounds Maintenance
Maintain grounds of Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club and Miller Creek Pub using hand or power tools or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks listed below and other duties as assigned. Although we have some beautiful weather, one has to be prepared and willing to work in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
Start date is usually Mid-March to early April (weather dependent) and hours are typically 5am-1pm. Hours desired and schedule can be discussed in interview.
Education and Experience
- No formal educational credential
- Must have a Drivers License
- Short-term on-the-job training
Tasks
- Perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance
- Perform detailed grounds construction and maintenance work
- Operate small hand-powered equipment and on occasion larger equipment
- Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis
- Reports any problems with equipment to mechanic or superintendent
- Returns all equipment to designated storage area
- Assists in all facets of golf course set up and maintenance
- Gather and remove litter
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers.
- Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
- Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, or pruners.
- Spread fertilizers onto grass, shrubs, or trees using hand spreaders.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
- Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
- Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
- Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, or shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
- Mow or edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
- Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
- Decorate gardens with stones or plants.
