Position Summary
A Cage Cashier is responsible for performing monetary transactions for guests in an assigned window/station, and maintaining an accurate draw balance while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Adhere to departmental procedures, safety rules, health regulations and Ellis Park Policy and Procedures rules.
- Complete Multiple Transaction Log (MTL), Negotiable Instrument Log (NIL), Currency Transaction Report (CTR), and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) accurately. Count all money straps and record date with initials/ID number on strap. Rotate currency, ensuring the straps with the oldest dates are used first.
- Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences; connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact, speak accurately, clearly, and verbally greet guests).
- Maintain experience with money handling, counting, and complex mathematical skills.
- Cash all types of checks for customers (personal checks, cash advances) in accordance with the company’s check cashing policies and procedures. Records all checks cashed in the specified computer system.
- Redeem ticket in ticket out (TITO), vouchers.
- Secure and document all recordable transactions made with company assets.
- Fill out and sign variance form if bank does not balance at end of shift, which must include possible reason for every variance.
- Correctly operate any cage equipment (currency sorter/counter).
- Process jackpots correctly.
- You will also be assisting with doing Drop/Soft count and Mutuels drop always making sure that all employees adhere departmental procedures.
- Report suspicious activity to the lead/supervisor, security, and surveillance departments.
- Request supervisor assistance when necessary.
- Attend required meetings and training.
- Complete all drop/count duties according to established standards in allocated time frame. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.

- At all times maintain a courteous, positive and professional working relationship with all Ellis Park personnel and the general public (e.g., coworkers, clients and vendors).

Education & Experience
- High School diploma or GED Certification preferred.
- Must have relevant work experience in cash handling or cage cashier capacity.
Licensing & Certification:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid license through the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC).
Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience operating counting equipment (money sorters/counters, 10-key calculator).
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Essential
- The job requires the ability to bend over, crawl, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, reach overhear, stand, talk, turn/twist, walk, see and repetitively use hands 51-100% if the time, and the ability to balance/climb 25-50% of the time.
- Requires employee to hear, sit, talk, and repetitively use hands the majority of the time.
- Requires employee to occasionally stand and walk.
- Requires employee to occasionally push/pull, carry, lift, and slide/transfer 1-30 lbs.
Essential Mental Demands:
- The job requires the ability to problem solve, organize, read and perform math skills 51-100% of the time.

Work Environment (inside/outside):
- The job is performed indoors in a gaming environment with frequent expose to smoke (e.g., cigarette smoke).
- You will also be in a confined areas and occasional exposure to hot/cold temperatures.
Other Requirements:
- Must provide and maintain a valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Must comply with Ellis Park and the Federal Government Bank Secrecy Act, Title 31.
- Must pass a cashier test.
