The Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization with a mission to
“encourage, promote and support the growth and development of commerce, thereby enhancing
the quality of life in our communities.”
Located in the beautiful Acadia/coastal area of Maine the Chamber serves more than 600 local/regional businesses and non-profit organizations. The organization is primed for growth with a strong reputation for supporting local business and economic development.
The membership organization is located in Downeast coastal Maine near Acadia National Park which is known for world-class outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, fly fishing, and rock climbing in addition to being a vibrant art hub with many cultural offerings. This Executive
Director position offers opportunities to serve and grow the business community while living in a beautiful coastal location.
The Opportunity
The primary responsibility for this position is to oversee all operations and activities of the
Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and to ensure the advancement of the mission and strategic vision. This includes member recruitment and retention along with member services, economic development, business and civic relations, marketing, fundraising, event sponsorship and management, as well as the overall operations which include budget preparation, and bookkeeping.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader who can effectively attain the strategic ends defined by the board of directors. The ED will communicate with, motivate, collaborate, and support staff, chamber members, external partners, and the community at-large.
Requirements
Experience managing and leading a productive team
Business community leadership experience
Background of creating and managing budgets
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Professional, friendly, organized, committed, team player
Possess strong personal and professional integrity
The position includes a salary commensurate with experience as well as an extensive benefit package to include paid time off, holiday, sick pay, as well as health and dental insurance.
