Ellwood Crankshaft Group is the world's leading manufacturer of large, one-of-a-kind, multiple-throw crankshafts. ECG's products and services include crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.
Today, ECG has four facilities throughout PA. Ellwood Crankshaft Group (ECG) has an opening for a full-time Manufacturing Engineer in our Sharon, Pa facility. This salaried-exempt position is critical for the continuing growth of manufacturing capabilities at ECG Sharon and will report directly to the Director of Forging Technology. The Forging Engineer will primarily be focused on technical and production support for the forge and heat treat operations comprising a state-of-the-art multi-directional forging press and automated heat treat, respectively. The Forging Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Support ECG's manufacturing process needs with critical process documentation such as forging prints, heat treat setups, inspection sheets, etc.
- Conduct continuous forging process evaluation and optimization (Die Design, Tool Development, and Repair Work) for improved productivity and quality.
- Ensure forge quality control and continuous improvement by troubleshooting quality issues, and developing and maintaining in-process quality inspection methods.
- Ensure continuous improvement by identifying, eliminating and preventing obstacles to efficient product flow at required quality.
- Lead forging design reviews and development for new and complex parts from concept to production launch across ECG facilities.
- Support as-forged product inspection with CMM-based inspection methods, including program development and improvement.
- Develop, maintain, and standardize clear work instructions for all critical production processes, including personnel training.
- Work to maximize Ellwood Crankshaft Group capabilities and identify interdivisional opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead or participate in various projects as assigned.
- Build and maintain positive employee relations among colleagues at this facility, including providing timely communication and task updates.
- Perform all other necessary duties, responsibilities, and projects, as assigned based on business needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of forging design and associated equipment.
- Proficient with DEFORM or equivalent simulation software, and SolidWorks or equivalent modeling software.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize between development projects and daily responsibilities.
- Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
