We have an exciting full-time job opportunity for a LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT to join our team and be part of an organization that values being community focused, providing customer service excellence, working with integrity, and having fun! We are looking for someone who will help us achieve our vision of becoming a national leader in providing parks and recreation experiences to our community by being customer centered, creative, and innovative!
WHAT YOU’LL DO: As Landscape Architect, you'll plan, design, develop, maintain and renovate grounds, buildings, and facilities.
Interpret, design and prepare concept plans for park development
Design play structures, playground layouts
Conduct field survey & research, site analysis, measurements and cost estimate
Prepare presentation drawings, graphics, and sketches
Calculate areas and quantities, draft construction details, working drawings and specifications
Prepare bid documents and supervise bidding process for projects and services
Manage contractors on construction projects
Maintain records and files relating to all aspects of planning and design functions
Assist with development and implementation of short and long-range plans for the department and assist with district-wide long range planning
Solicit, hire and manage engineers and surveyors
Prepare land acquisition and development grants
Conduct Park Scorecard Assessments and compile report on outcomes with the Strategy & Planning Specialist
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or related field with 5 years experience in park planning, playground design and renovation, and general recreation needs
Valid Illinois driver’s license
State of Illinois license in Landscape Architecture
Certified Playground Inspector
Membership in American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and CPRP preferred
Knowledge of CPSC guidelines and ASTM standards for playground design and renovation, and knowledge of ADA relative to indoor/outdoor construction
Knowledge of computer-aided design programs and GIS data
Basic knowledge of photography
Basic knowledge of arboriculture and horticulture
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical instructions
Proficiency in computer word-processing and spreadsheet applications
Problem-solving, communication, organizational, customer service and management skills

WHEN YOU’LL WORK:
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm (some flexibility with hours) with expectation to work 40-hours per week.

The anticipated starting pay for this exempt position is $51,247 depending on qualifications.
