What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of Parent Engagement position at Elon University?
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Parent Engagement will work to maintain and enhance parent engagement at Elon University by developing a strategic program engaging parents as partners, advocates and investors. Specifically, the Assistant Director leads the planning and management of Family Weekend, manages the parent and family communication strategy, and coordinates parent events with campus partners.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Maintain and enhance parent and family engagement at Elon University.
- Develop relationships with and collaborate with campus partners (Admissions, Student Life, University Communications, Athletics, Auxiliary Services, Cultural Programs, etc.) to enrich the Elon experience for parents and families.
Operations
- Lead the planning and organization of Family Weekend, which includes but is not limited to: designing the registration process, developing a multichannel marketing strategy, creating a schedule of events for Elon families, coordinating with on- and off- campus partners and vendors.
- Plan and coordinate on-campus and virtual events for parents in partnership with New Student Programs, the Global Education Center, the Student Professional Development Center, and other campus partners.
- Lead parent and grandparent data management efforts to ensure accurate information is in Raiser’s Edge NXT, Elon’s database.
- Support Elon University events and projects (Move-In, Commencement Week, etc.) and University Advancement events and projects (Homecoming & Reunion Weekend, regional events, mailing/shipping fulfillment, etc.).
Communications and Engagement
- Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of a multichannel parent and family communication plan and strategy.
- Manage content on Elon’s parent websites and the Elon Parent Facebook page.
- Serve as the primary liaison to Elon parents and families by managing the Parent Engagement phone line and email.
- Work with the Director of Parent Engagement to coordinate crisis communications and messages to parents with university leaders.
- Enhance and implement a strategy to engage parents of underrepresented populations.
- Along with University Communications, design parent and family digital assets for use in communications and events.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a committee of the Parents Council.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in any relevant field of study with minimum 3 years of experience with the following relevant work experience: The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education, parent/alumni and/or constituent relations, volunteer management, public relations, event planning, nonprofit administration and/or related fields.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree in any relevant field of study
