About our Team Our team is the Bioengineering & Biomaterials journal from Cell Press. We publish innovative and groundbreaking research in all areas of bioengineering, biotechnology, and biomedical applications. We are looking to appoint a full-time Scientific Editor to join the editorial team. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in any topic area covered by the journal. Specifically, applicants with a background in materials science and bioengineering are encouraged to apply. About the Role As an Editor at Bioengineering & Biomaterials journal, you'll have opportunities to contribute to broader Cell Press initiatives. Advocating for science and providing thought leadership. Influencing the practice and direction of science and scientific communications. Responsibilities Assessing submitted research papers. Overseeing the peer review process. Establishing relationships with researchers. Recruiting exciting research studies and review materials. Representing the journal and Cell Press at scientific meetings and visits to research institutions. Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond. Contributing to broader Cell Press initiatives to shape the future of science communication. Requirements Have a PhD in relevant discipline, post-doctoral experience valued. Previous editorial experience would be welcomed, but this is not necessary (training will be provided). Backgrounds in leading or running a research group or working in industry are also encouraged to apply. Display broad interests, love of science, and desire to learn. Have exceptional talent for clear communication (written and verbal). Have interest in digital communication and publishing trends. Be creative with the willingness to experiment, and desire to improve. Able to organize, prioritize, and focus. Display exceptional interpersonal skills.
