The Opportunity:
The College of Aviation at the Prescott, Arizona campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for assistant or associate professor, depending on previous teaching experience, in the Department of Safety Sciences. The interview and hiring processes are anticipated to begin in early 2023, and the successful candidate will begin in August 2023. This position is primarily in support of our Prescott campus residential (in-person) M.S. degree in Safety Science. The position may also support undergraduate students pursing a safety minor.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three graduate or four undergraduate courses, or a combination thereof, per fall and spring semesters. The course subjects may include quantitative methods, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, safety ethics, emergency management, and/or aviation maintenance safety.The successful candidate will perform research within related disciplines, to include collaboration with students enrolled in the Master of Science Safety Science program. This position also requires service on university and campus committees.
This is a nine-month position, renewed annually, with the possibility of summer teaching for additional compensation.
QualificationsThe selected candidate must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D in Aviation, Aerospace, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, Ergonomics, or a closely related discipline.Candidates with teaching experience or practical industry experience in related fields will be given top priority. Demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching, research, and mentorship is expected. Industry certifications such as CSP, ASP, CISM, CIH, CPE, CHFP, or similar are also desired.
