Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains complete and accurate inventory and asset control. Manage records for medical equipment and supplies including exchanged items in those locations where first responder items are pooled.
- Inventory and restock medical equipment and supply in stockroom and on ambulances.
- Issues required supplies and equipment to appropriate Team Members and maintains inventory of items.
- Inspect, clean, and repair medical equipment as required.
- Completes records and reports in a timely manner.
- Ensures proper safeguarding of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Drive an ambulance, non-emergency, to pickup EMS equipment left at hospitals, as well as moving ambulances on EMSA premises.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are operationally necessary.
Supervisory Requirements:
- Oversee internal department VST work habits to ensure consistency of work performance.
Qualification Requirements:
- 6-months experience as a VST.
- No disciplinary action within the last six (6) months.
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through radio and telephone communications.
- Understanding of medical equipment with ability to learn new material.
- Ability to lift medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with Team Members.
Education and Experience:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Accurately audit and record assets.
- Knowledge of EMS medical supplies and equipment and inventory control procedures.
- Knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and repair.
- Able to establish and maintain a working relationship with vendors and qualified operations.
- Able to anticipate unusal levels of usage based on unforeseen operations.
Working Environment:
Physical Demands: There is lifting and moving of equipment up to 100 lbs. Regularly required to use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; with minimal use to hand tools. Required to frequently talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Maintain physical condition to enable proper performance of assigned job functions as determined by company policy.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member regularly works in outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Mental/Emotional: Frequently applies common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Frequently deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Frequently works as independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Company staff. Ability to continue EMS education as required by Company policy. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. The work has a high stress environment.
