Who We Are:

The Emerging Career Professionals (ECP) department is a new and innovative initiative of the OU, dedicated to empowering and supporting Orthodox Jewish young professionals. Through targeted programs and partnerships, ECP seeks to foster meaningful Jewish engagement, leadership development, and community connection in key cities across North America.


The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, , is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

 

Position Summary:

The ECP Mission Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of domestic and international chesed missions designed for Emerging Career Professionals (ECPs). This role works closely with partner organizations, including OU Relief Missions, IFS Israel Volunteer Missions, and other collaborators, to create meaningful mission experiences that foster leadership development, personal growth, professional connection, and communal responsibility.

 

The Mission Coordinator reports directly to the ECP Director and plays a key role in ensuring that missions are strategically aligned with ECP’s broader programmatic goals and community infrastructure.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Mission Coordination & Logistics

  • Plan, organize, and manage recruitment for domestic and international chesed missions.
  • Coordinate mission logistics in collaboration with partner organizations, including scheduling, travel arrangements, accommodations, and on-site volunteer support.
  • Ensure mission structure and content align with the needs, values, and professional stage of ECP participants.
  • Regularly report to the ECP Director on recruitment progress, logistical needs, challenges, and successes.

Community & Partner Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain relationships with synagogues, community leaders, nonprofits, and charitable organizations to expand mission partnerships.
  • Collaborate with partners to design mission opportunities that are impactful, values-driven, and relevant to emerging professionals.
  • Provide periodic updates to the ECP Director on partnership development and collaboration outcomes.

Volunteer & Participant Engagement

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage ECP participants, ensuring they are well-prepared and understand the purpose and impact of each mission.
  • Foster a strong sense of community among participants through pre-mission preparation, team-building activities, and post-mission reflection.
  • Organize post-mission reunions and follow-up gatherings to reinforce relationships, reflect on impact, and sustain momentum.
  • Actively support the integration of mission participants into broader ECP programming, infrastructure, and community life following each mission.
  • Keep the ECP Director informed on participant engagement, retention, and overall mission experience.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Promote mission opportunities through digital platforms, social media, newsletters, and community events.
  • Develop compelling promotional materials that highlight mission goals, values, and impact.
  • Engage local and global communities to increase awareness of ECP missions and their role in professional and personal development.
  • Report regularly to the ECP Director on outreach efforts and participant response.

Impact Reporting & Evaluation

  • Collect and analyze feedback from participants, volunteers, and partner organizations.
  • Track participation metrics, community impact, and qualitative outcomes.
  • Prepare post-mission reports highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations for future programming.
  • Use insights and data to continuously improve mission design and execution.

 

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in recruitment, program coordination, mission planning, volunteer engagement, or community-based nonprofit work.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex programs or trips, including managing logistics, timelines, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience collaborating with partner organizations, community leaders, and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to recruit, onboard, and engage participants, fostering meaningful group dynamics and a strong sense of community.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with reporting, evaluation, and data-informed program improvement.

 

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience.
