What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeping/Laundry position at Emmanuel Home?
Job Description - Responsible for cleaning resident rooms and facility, capable of learning to do jobs independently.
Cleaning Duties – Weekly
- Dust all high areas with Duster – even the top of the lights above the sinks.
- Dust all surfaces and objects on furniture thoroughly.
- Empty all wastebaskets. (There may be 3 in a room)
- Shake out or wash any bathroom rugs.
- Clean sink area – Remove and wash under all objects.
- Toilet – Clean thoroughly. Toilets with a 2nd seat, remove and clean. Clean behind the original seat and down around the outside of the bowl. Sanitize with clean bottom of toilet between the toilet and floor, especially in the men’s bathrooms. Clean hand rails attached to all toilets and those on the walls. Clean baseboard around all toilets.
- Shower – Sanitize and scrub shower walls, floor, shelves, mats, curtains and shower chairs.
- Mop floor – Make sure all floors are mopped, moving chairs and furniture as needed, and behind all doors.
- Stock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper and fill soap dispensers.
- When Bortek supplies come stock the supplies on the appropriate shelves.
- After you are completely finished cleaning – wipe cart down, put mop heads and cleaning rags in laundry room. Make sure supplies are put away and things are in order before leaving.
Cleaning Duties – Monthly
- Move all furniture and clean behind and under them.
- Clean lobby and activity room furniture. Move furniture and clean window sill and moldings.
Cleaning Duties – Every Day and Weekends
- Clean and mop all bathrooms.
- Thoroughly clean sinks, mirrors and toilets (see above note).
- Mop community bathrooms, activity room bathroom, and rear office bathroom.
- Vacuum all carpets daily including activity room.
- If rooms are exceptionally dirty from residents, staff needs to clean them.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. This position requires a lot of walking, standing, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
