Summary
Responsible for the daily production operations of the Plant. Oversee related processes within the intake, cheese making, packaging, prep, and affinage areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Focus on tactical day-to-day production planning and meeting or exceeding set KPIs for department and individuals
• Manage the daily operations of the Plant with a focus on employee and food safety
• Ensure daily production planning is in accordance with supply chain needs
• Communicate and resolve all quality and production issues with appropriate department supervisors and team members and communicate the information to plant manager along with resolution plan
• Support quality standards, inventory accuracy, and production planning schedules inside ERP
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve plant and company objectives
• Promote and participate in Emmi Operational Excellence throughout the facility
• Monitor variations in production process and report to Plant Manager and Quality and work to resolve issues in a timely manner
• Coach, motivate, and engage employees in all aspects of operations to support the Emmi culture
• Comply with all safety & company policies, practices, and procedures
• Ensure all team members and supervisors adhere to safety & company policies, practices, and procedures
• Establish and conduct regular department and supervisor meetings to communicate key metrics, production updates, and important communications
• Review / monitor monthly operations budget and discuss budget overruns with plant manager and devise and implement resolution measures
• Direct and schedule supervisors/employees – including interviewing, hiring, training, planning and scheduling, performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving issues
• Act as backup , when needed, to supervisors
• Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)
• Maintain complete and steadfast confidentiality in all matters relating to team members
• Assist in preparation of annual operation budgets and capital expenditures for plant operations in order to achieve budgets, under the guidance of the plant manager
Qualifications
• 2 Year College Degree in business related field or equivalent experience; 4-year college degree preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in production management or related field
• Proven leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors and employees
• Ability to read and interpret documents, manuals and instructions
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented nature and ability to adapt to change
• Ability to calculate using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, JD Edwards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams
