Retail Specialist will sell and insure best in class in store merchandising to include building displays, packing out product, and replenishing permanent secondary displays and maintain salability of all authorized items. The job does include weekend work as needed and will include some weekend hours. The Retail Specialist position could be a Full- time or a Part- time position, with the same responsibilities.
Job Summary
Retail
Activities
- Empire supports Meat/Seafood,
Deli/Bakery, Produce, and Grocery suppliers in the Kroger stores which
includes calling on all the stores in assigned territory within the
established call frequency - Sell and service all principal
accounts represented by Empire to ensure all of the authorized items are
on shelf and priced and tagged properly - Rotate product as required by
manufacturer for perishable merchandise and for merchandise requiring
freshness checks - Set up displays of manufacturer-client
brands while working within the guidelines of customer regulations and
manufacturer-client display objectives - Obtain and maintain 100% distribution
of all manufacturer-client products approved by the Kroger POG - Conduct regular checks of store shelf
tags to insure continued distribution and reordering of product - Carry out all previously planned
promotion and programs to a successful conclusion - Supply point-of-sale material to
store(s) as required by the manufacturer-client and approved by the retailer - Apply manufacturer’s cents-off coupons
and special offers to product as required by the manufacturer and approved
by the customer - Insure that all retail objectives and
shelf standards are met and maintained in assigned territory - Keep sections set to customer’s
schematic or stocking plan as is required or beneficial to
manufacturer-clients - Maintain competitive awareness and
promptly report all information through proper channels
Administration
- Implement and maintain organization’s
‘call system’ - Carefully review all sales reports to
maintain awareness of progress toward assigned goals - Sales bulletins
- Call reports with drive objectives
- Maintain all permanent equipment in
the best possible condition - Territory files and company owned
office equipment - Maintain and update all territorial
records - Advise all company customers of
information regarding pricing and policy - Attend and participate in all
scheduled company meetings - Report completely and on time using
forms supplied and with the frequency requested - Exercise expense control within
guidelines of Retail Supervisor - Accountable to the Retail Supervisor for
proper interpretation and fulfillment of functions, responsibilities and
relationships - Coordinate activities and cooperate
with Operations, under the direction of the Retail Supervisor, in the
execution of promotional programs - Establish and maintain rapport with
all store personnel and buying personnel in assigned accounts - Follow and adhere to company policy
and procedures, under the direction of the Retail Supervisor, when working
with a manufacturer-client - Follow proper protocol and procedures
when communicating with administrative or office personnel
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of CPG/grocery/retail
industry related experience preferred - Strong verbal and persuasive
communication skills - Ability to be able to operate
autonomously, with strong personal drive for results
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read
and comprehend simple to sometimes complex instructions, correspondence, and
memos. Ability to write clear and
concise correspondence. Ability to
effectively present information in one on one or group situations.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals. Ability
to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to solve
practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK
ENVIRONMENT:
Duties are
typically performed a retail grocery store environment and will include
customers and store personnel. Duties require the employee to be in outside
facilities, including but not limited to, customer warehouses, kitchens, and
manufacturer-client facilities, all of which require more safety precautions
than a normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate. The work environment
