What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Teacher position at Encounter Learning Center?
Encounter Learning Center is seeking a warm, caring teacher to nurture children in a play-based, Reggio Emilia inspired program. As a teacher, you will plan and implement creative lessons, guide children through inquiry and exploration, and help them develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop weekly lesson plans that align with program philosophy and state early learning standards covering areas such as literacy, math, science, arts and social-emotional growth
- Lead small and large group activities, including read alouds, imaginary play, building projects, art, music, and movement
- Observe children to assess development and scaffold next steps
- Maintain a safe, clean classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate on goals
- Participate in professional development to stay current in best practices
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts EEC Certification
- 2 years experience as early childhood education teacher
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
- Willing to commute or relocate to Westwood, MA
- Strong classroom management abilities
- Patient, caring temperament and ability to connect with young children
- Creativity and enthusiasm
