What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toddler Teacher position at Encounter Learning Center?

Encounter Learning Center is seeking a warm, caring teacher to nurture children in a play-based, Reggio Emilia inspired program. As a teacher, you will plan and implement creative lessons, guide children through inquiry and exploration, and help them develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop weekly lesson plans that align with program philosophy and state early learning standards covering areas such as literacy, math, science, arts and social-emotional growth
  • Lead small and large group activities, including read alouds, imaginary play, building projects, art, music, and movement
  • Observe children to assess development and scaffold next steps
  • Maintain a safe, clean classroom environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate on goals
  • Participate in professional development to stay current in best practices

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts EEC Certification
  • 2 years experience as early childhood education teacher
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Willing to commute or relocate to Westwood, MA
  • Strong classroom management abilities
  • Patient, caring temperament and ability to connect with young children
  • Creativity and enthusiasm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.50 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
