Description
JOB PURPOSE: Endeavors seeks a Housing Coordinator to support housing access, set-up, and long-term housing security for new refugee arrivals in Austin, Texas. The Housing Coordinator will secure temporary and permanent housing units for new arrivals, coordinate home set-up, conduct housing cultural orientation, expand the network of landlord collaborators, build partnerships with nonprofit housing organizations, and stay up to date about supportive housing resources and relevant housing policy.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, inspect, and secure safe, sanitary, and affordable housing, appropriate for the specific needs of new refugee arrivals
- Coordinate with administrative and program team to ensure rent, security deposit, and utility assistance checks are submitted in a timely manner
- Set up utilities and rental insurance for clients, as applicable, and help clients enroll in utility assistance programs
- Identify, inspect, and secure temporary housing units as needed
- Coordinate with volunteers, contractors, and donors to ensure housing units are furnished with essential furniture and household items
- Conduct cultural orientation on housing topics for new refugee arrivals
- Conduct outreach and recruitment with new potential landlord partners; create promotional materials and give presentations about the benefits of renting to HIAS refugee clients
- Manage landlord relationships, mediate issues regarding clients’ tenancies, advocate on behalf of clients, and maintain landlord database
- Form partnerships with public and nonprofit agencies; identify community resources to support clients’ housing security, including rental assistance funds, legal aid, eviction diversion programs, and affordable housing providers
- Ensure proper case noting and case file management for all housing-related tasks
- Stay informed about local and state-level housing policies, resources, and regulations, as applicable to new refugee arrivals

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with other team members, coordination with volunteers, and management of key relationships with landlords and community partners.
EDUCATION: Undergraduate degree required.
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years of relevant experience working in affordable housing, homeless services, and/or refugee resettlement. Knowledge of U.S. Refugee Program and common refugee needs required; previous work experience at a resettlement affiliate strongly preferred.
ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion. Ability to work outside of the 9-5 schedule, as needed.
LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.
VEHICLE: Valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation
OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Proficiency in a second language preferred.
