Endocrinology Associates of Roanoke, VA is a privately owned specialty practice that was founded in the Roanoke Valley in 1976 that provides clinical care to people all over the valley and beyond. We educate our patients with endocrine disorders to help them improve the quality of their lives and stress the importance of quality of care given by our physicians and all staff members. We offer thyroid ultrasounds and fine needle aspiration in the clinic for care of patients with thyroid disorder. Bone densitometry equipment for dual energy x-ray is also available providing absorptiometry (DEXA scan). We strive to help our patients by creating a positive learning atmosphere that will give them confidence in their ability to maintain at-home care and in the care they receive at Endocrinology Associates.
Our practice is looking for a Patient Advocate, preferably with at least two years clinical experience and experience in endocrinology to join our team. We are in need of solution-oriented, self-motivated, individuals who can work cohesively as a part of our Advocate Team here at Endocrinology Associates. We will consider applications from EMTs, CCMAs, LPNs, - anyone with a strong clinical background relating to endocrinology and/or: outbound referrals, medication prior authorizations, durable medical equipment, and relaying lab value information and recommendations to patients. The ideal candidate is someone with a good clinical foundation who is willing and able to learn and be a part of a team. Responsibilities:
- Understand medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Understand endocrinology principles and be able to recognize abnormal lab values.
- Provide patient education and counseling on lab values in relation to their diagnoses.
- Receive incoming phone calls from patients or other facilities regarding referrals, medication changes, medication or equipment prior authorizations, lab results, or any other care recommended by provider. Inform patient of status or results and communicate provider's recommendations as necessary.
- Submit and coordinate outbound referrals to other specialties and imaging facilities at the provider’s recommendation.
- Assist with ordering patient labs to outside facilities.
- Update patient’s medication list following dosage adjustments based on abnormal lab values and provide guidance to patients by phone or patient portal, as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other clinical team members to ensure patients’ needs are met by providing results/records to patients and facilitating communications between patients and providers.
- Communicate and share information with other healthcare professionals regarding patient’s results and the associated recommendations of our providers.
- Accurately document telephone encounters with the patient in the electronic medical record.
- Assist physicians with charting and other documentation tasks related to patient care and recommendations.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
