Endurance Equipment is a leader in Woodyard Technology and Equipment for Sawmills, OSB Facilities, Biomass Woodyards and Pulp/Paper Mills. The company was formed in 2009. Endurance Equipment LLC is seeking a Structural Fitter to join our team in our Irvington, AL office. The successful candidate will be part of multi-discipline and nimble team supporting the forest products industry. This position will be responsible for assembly, fitting, installation, and fabrication of metal components for various structures and products.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Fits and assembles structural frameworks, sub-assemblies, machines and housings from materials, such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using hand tools and welding equipment and following blueprint specifications;
- Examines blueprints and materials list to obtain parts specifications;
- Lays out parts dimensions and sets up base pieces (plate, beams, etc.) on floor using chalk line, squares, levels measuring tape and soapstone;
- Tack-welds and braces parts and sub-assemblies to minimize distortion due to welding;
- Positions parts in jig and files, chisels, and grinds parts, as indicated, to fit them together;
- May heat parts with acetylene torch and bend them in vise, on anvil, or around stakes mounted in table;
- May trim parts with acetylene torch;
- Periodically compares dimensions of assembly to blueprint specifications, using square, rule, and measuring tape;
- Must have the basic ability to perform structural, plate and pipe fitting;
- Provides own personal trade tools;
- May do all of the above independently, requiring little supervision.
Education & Experience
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent and 2 year apprenticeship, on the job training, Vocational, Community or technical College training as a fitter;
- 3 years work experience in metal fabrication as a fitter or any combination of the above.

- Good knowledge of the various measuring instruments;

Physical Requirements:
- Standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, etc.
- Frequent heavy lifting;

- Manual dexterity required to use power and hand tools;
- Fast-paced environment;
- Frequently noisy working environment;
- Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Shifts:
Day Shift: Monday to Thursday (6:00am to 4:30pm) 40 hours per week
Weekend Shift: Friday to Sunday (6:00am to 6:30pm) 36 hours per week paid for 40 hours
