Description of Job:
Analyzes EGI’s current buying systems and pinpoints and utilizes the best methods for daily purchasing strategies. These strategies are achieved by identifying, qualifying, and selecting vendors that provide high-quality product, competitive costs, and excellent service while allowing EGI to lower the cost of doing business. Develops and maintains strong vendor relationships while establishing vendor contracts, scorecards, and other aspects related to vendor management. Works to optimize inventory levels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, qualify, and select vendors of materials, equipment, products, or services, and conduct overall vendor management
- Negotiate with new and current vendors to obtain quality product at competitive costs
- Develop strong vendor relationships while still seeking to lower the cost of doing business
- Monitor ERP system to determine material availability and identify purchase needs and delivery timelines
- Aim to optimize inventory levels of purchased items
- Work closely with the Engineering, Quality, Receiving, Manufacturing and Product Managers to assure a consistent supply of quality product and services.
- Expedite purchase orders when deemed necessary and as required to support production and/or the business plan
- Issue domestic and international purchase orders for finished goods, component parts, and service parts
- Create vendor contracts and scorecards
- Measure and analyze vendor fill rates and on-time delivery
- Work with Finance Department on purchase price variances and maintaining standard costs
Education & Experience:
- 4 Year degree or equivalent
- 2 years of purchasing experience
- Supply Chain Management experience
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Office). Strong Excel skills preferred.
- ERP/MRP Experience
- Basic math skills.
- Sourcing and vendor management experience
- Experience setting up vendor contracts and scorecards
- Strong negotiation/networking skills
- Highly process and detail-oriented with aptitude to learn quickly.
- Strong time management skills with ability to prioritize and stay organized.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude.
- Creative thinking skills with competitive desire to meet and exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts
- Strong leadership
- Ability to develop and maintain vendor relationships
Work Environment: Office, sometimes standing in shipping areas on production floor
