Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Purchasing Manager to join our team in Savage, MN. This role is pivotal in overseeing procurement activities, supplier relationships, and ensuring the efficient acquisition of materials, products, and services. You will lead a team of Purchasing Agents, drive cost-saving strategies, and uphold high standards for supplier performance and material quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Purchasing Agents, providing direction, training, and professional development.
- Apply expertise in raw materials, production processes, MRP/procurement concepts, and cost management to maximize operational efficiency.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
- Resolve supplier grievances and negotiate contracts to secure favorable pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Oversee the procurement of direct and non-production materials, including securing alternate suppliers as needed.
- Plan and manage blanket orders and contracts to optimize inventory impact and operational flexibility.
- Implement and uphold purchasing policies, procedures, and contract management guidelines.
- Monitor and report on inventory levels, forecasting, shortages, and cost management.
- Identify staffing needs, recruit and onboard team members, and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Provide regular feedback and performance evaluations to the team, fostering growth and excellence.
- Lead by example and support the team in meeting workload demands.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Operations.
- 5 years of supervisory management experience.
- Must come from a manufacturing background.
- Hands-on experience with MRP systems, including SAP.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, including Excel.
- GSS (Global Shop) experience a plus
- Certifications: APICS Membership with CPIM certification is a plus.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
