What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook/Kitchen Coordinator position at English Lutheran Church?
Job Summary
Have some kitchen chops? Looking for extra hours and the dependable wage (not tips) that goes with it? Sundays that don't start too awful early and gets you home in time for football? And only one regular night per week, Wednesday? Easy summers? Ditch the long breakfast/brunch/lunch shifts every Sunday and come enjoy some easy company!
English Lutheran Church is looking for one dependable Cook/Kitchen Coordinator to prepare, oversee, and breakdown/cleanup our Sunday Coffee Fellowship and Wednesday Night Meals, along with overseeing basic needs of the kitchen such as getting groceries, ordering supplies, and keeping things clean and running smoothly.
Sundays are very straight-forward: coffee prep and set-up of the fellowship service - snacks and treats need to be trayed and put out along with the coffee, lemonade, and water for members to enjoy in fellowship between services. Then, just break it down, wipe it down and make short work of it. Sundays are year-round with allowance for occasional weekend off.
Wednesday nights is light-duty meal prep for approximately 75 people. Generally, we are looking for a simple well-rounded dinner that is appealing (especially for kids). This can be more elaborate if you wish to make it so, while working within the budget. Bring your imagination and skills! (Soup & salad, baked potato bar, pasta bar, breakfast for dinner, etc.)
Sunday hours are approximately 7:30-11:30am. Wednesdays generally begin 2-3:00pm to 8:00. During the school year, hours average 12-15 a week, and summers are minimal - maybe 5 hours a week. Occasionally, we have additional church events or outside groups that need meal service or simply supervision as they prepare meals. You will have the first opportunity for those hours as well.
Wednesday meals are not served during summers and the Sunday fellowship begins later to accommodate our single Sunday service, so you'd have an easy summer!
