SURGICAL SCHEDULER SPECIALIST
The primary purpose of the Surgical Scheduler Specialist is to coordinate surgical scheduling and to be responsible for providing services and compliance in accordance with the clinical policies and procedures and federal/state/local laws and regulations. This role will report to the Practice Administrator. This role is part-time, 3 days a week 8AM-4PM. The salary range is $17-$20hr.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Greet visitors, providers, staff, and patients in a courteous and professional manner.
· Provide a supportive and informative demeanor for patients undergoing surgery for the duration of their treatment with our office.
· Schedule, reschedule or cancel surgical appointments.
· Ensure patients receive appropriate instructions surrounding their surgery.
· Communicate with all surgical candidates to set up appointments, provide patients with information about pre-operative requirements, inform patients of surgical requirements timelines, and answers any insurances related questions about surgical procedures and financial responsibilities.
· Coordinate pre-operative appointments and testing (including, but not limited to lab tests, H&P, and diagnostic tests).
· Review, proof for completeness, and scan patient files and forms.
· Contact insurance companies, obtain benefits and eligibility, check referrals and authorizations for all procedures.
· Maintain a direct communication line with the key OR staff.
· Update electronic medical records appropriately.
· Answer, screen, respond, and rout phone queries in addition to checking voicemails and return calls promptly.
· Assist with general patient scheduling as needed.
· Ability to work as a Medical Assistant on occasion when staffing is short.
· Coordinate surgical schedule with physicians.
· Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality.
· Perform all other tasks and projects assigned by the Practice Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
· At least one year of surgery scheduling experience, either hospital or clinic based required
· Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred
· Familiarity with CPT and ICD Codes/Coding
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
· Excellent time management skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, to be flexible, to work well with many interruptions and to be able to multi-task
· Must exhibit and promote a high level of customer service, hospitality, curiosity and friendliness towards all patients, employees and the overall facility
· Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
· Proficiency with PC-based computer skills

o Health Nautica
· Bilingual preferred- Spanish or Polish
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
