Responsibilities:
In this Business Services Consultant role, you will be an integral part of the Operational team, responsible for working with businesses to identify job openings, alternative work activities, and training initiatives. In this role, it is integral that you establish rapport with area businesses and maintain ongoing relationships with businesses as you will need to enlist their help to increase awareness of available workforce services in the community. You will continuously review business opportunities and contact new employees to market Center services. This position arranges for employers to speak to candidates about employment and employer expectations and maintains follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement. You will support employers by assisting with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified applicants. In this role, you will also assist with setting up for job fairs and employer hiring events and may be asked on occasion to work outside of normal business hours for events and/or to meet deadlines.

In this role you will
:
  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of the local labor market
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable culture while promoting the company mission, vision, values, and brand
  • Keep project staff apprised of local business needs and job placement opportunities
  • Work with case management staff to facilitate job placements
  • Enter employer information into all appropriate databases and monitors employer activities
Qualifications:
You are a self-motivated and flexible team player. You consider yourself to have strong organizational, interpersonal, and both verbal and written communication skills. You take pride in your presentation skills as well as your friendly and professional demeanor. You have familiarity with the communities being served and understand local needs and resources desired by the customer. You also have knowledge and understanding of labor market trends. You have a bachelor’s degree or higher and/or 2 years of experience in business-to-business sales, marketing, customer service, staffing or recruiting and are ready to make an impact. A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance is required.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Career Advocate for the Transform Milwaukee Jobs Program is responsible for establishing and maintaining
good business partnerships with local employers, soliciting job orders and working directly with participants and/
case management staff to fill these job orders.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Builds relationships with local employers, and maintains contact on a regular basis to identify job openings,
subsidized employment opportunities and training initiatives
  • Coordinates with case management staff and program participants to fill openings to ensure job placement goals
are met each month
  • Ensures employers satisfaction with services
  • Participates in job fairs
  • Solicits job orders and post them daily in accordance with project requirements
  • Send out correspondence to schedule appointments, request employment verifications, and acquire pay stubs
when applicable
  • Ensures that the employer database is updated each week
  • Prepares a report of weekly activities to include progress toward achieving monthly goals and objectives
  • Utilize proprietary tools such as talent market and supply and demand portal to determine workforce needs and
match participants to jobs
  • Know, understand, and implement current and future Equus and contract specific policies, SOPs, and Operations
Memos
  • Facilitate 1:1 Job development appointments
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least two years of experience in business or public administration
  • Knowledge of: Workforce Board and partner programs & services; community and civic resources; interviewing
techniques & principles; agency policy; computer applications
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in both group or individual settings; conduct
effective interviews and meetings; work in a team based environment; establish and maintain effective
interpersonal relationships with customers, peers, management, staff & partners; perform advanced
computer applications & internet operations; work with diverse populations; manage multiple resources;
work in a fast paced environment demonstrating flexibility and ability to adapt to change; and engage
customers into a system that provides multitude of services to meet their needs.
  • Must possess and maintain a good driving record and meet company driving requirements
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Moderate travel; Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and must meet company driving standards
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Extensive standing, sitting, computer, phone, deskwork and extensive data entry requires; work primarily in a defined office environment with specified hours, although flexible hours may be required; interacts one on one and in groups with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds; availability for occasional out of office meetings.
