Posting Notice: Position will be second shift and receive an additional $0.50/hour shift differential.
Definition of Class
- Responsible for a variety of maintenance duties including repairs and operational maintenance of County buildings and grounds. May be assigned tasks not necessarily included in this job description. Positive attitude required.
- Promotions to higher grade level possible.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs tasks requiring basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing and electrical.
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Assists with office moves.
- Notifies building superintendent concerning need for major repairs.
- Inspects all safety devices and is responsible for monthly fire equipment inspection.
- Drives snow plow.
- Drives county owned vehicles for tasks at multiple county owned facilities.
- Performs lawn care and snow removal.
- Deliver items to all country locations as required.
- Receive shipments.
- Escort contractors throughout buildings as required.
- When required may be asked to do work of lower grades.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of general building repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools including outdoor equipment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Positive attitude.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in building maintenance preferred
Conditions Of Employment
- The selected candidate will be pre-employment required to obtain, at their own expense, three (3) forms of clearance, including PA State Police Criminal History Record Check; PA Child Abuse History; and FBI Criminal History Background Check including finger printing.
