Summary
The Product Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned inventory categories and additional Purchasing
tasks as assigned for Erik's Bike Shop, Inc. Self-starters with strong analytical and organizational skills and a passion for
active specialty retail will find this position rewarding.
Position Details
The primary responsibilities and areas of impact of this position include, but are not limited to:
Database Management
• Set and monitor model stock points
• Maintain current item catalogue with organized vendor and product information
• Price product appropriately
• Coordinate with Accounting to rectify outstanding, open and/or unmatched receiving logs and invoices
Inventory Replenishment
• Review and distribute inventory to ensure each location has an adequate and timely selection
• Create and submit accurate and timely purchase orders
• Review order confirmations for terms and shipping accuracy prior to order release
• Manage backorders and find product substitutes as needed
• Collaborate with distribution to ensure product flows from purchase order to receiving to stores in a timely
manner
Open To Buy / Inventory Management
• Maximize margin dollars
• Keep inventory dollar levels within budgets
• Source and maintain an appropriate product assortment for each store
• Negotiate contract terms
• Develop and execute strategy to enhance sales and address slow moving product
• Plan product mix to align with diverse market needs
Planning & Forecasting
• Plan category assortment and develop sales strategy across all channels through product sourcing,
development, positioning and pricing
• Develop and execute promotional and markdown strategies
• Forecast and control inventory levels by store to achieve sales goals
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships
• Negotiate contract terms
• Analyze industry, competition, and category trends to identify new product opportunities
Communication
• Provide staff with timely and relevant product and pricing updates
• Coordinate with other departments as necessary to maximize product return on investment
• Report category and inventory benchmarks to Director of General Merchandise
Position Requirements
Experience
• A successful track record in product management or relevant field
Skills
• Dedication to get the job done
• Thorough knowledge of the product categories carried by Erik's Bike Shop, Inc.
• Proficient with web-based applications and Office 365 products, especially Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Exceptional time management, organizational and multitasking skills
• Self-motivated with a high degree of professionalism
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Work well under the pressure of deadlines and able to respond quickly to changes

Working conditions
• Ability to work in an office environment, frequently utilizing computer and phone systems
• Ability to work remotely
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques
