Merchant Services Risk Analyst
Basic Function: The position is responsible for supporting Merchant Processing in the daily, monthly, and quarterly periodic review and analysis of Merchant activity by monitoring both real-time platform risk systems and historic report activity. The Risk Analyst will work closely with Independent Sales Organizations’ risk departments in their monitoring of merchant activity. Communication of material changes in account activities and performance are essential to ensure Bank reputational and operational safety and soundness.
Principle Responsibilities
- Daily review and tracking of Merchant activity by monitoring of merchant exceptions utilizing the processing platform risk systems and related reports.
- Monitoring the merchants assigned to the respective Risk and Research Systems for such activities as:
- Daily and Weekly Transaction Counts and Volumes
- Average Ticket
- Number of Chargebacks
- Change in Deposit Frequency
- New Merchant activity
- Merchant Account DDA Change
- First Batch or New Merchant Activity Report
- Monitoring other external applications/systems for risk related purposes
- G2 / Evercompliant
- Lexis Nexus World Compliance
- Artefacts
- External web sites
- Ensure activities are an accurate representation of merchant’s business model and communicate all exceptions to ISO and escalate to management when needed
- Provide various reporting to management
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
- Ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with federal, state and Bank Secrecy Act regulatory requirements
Background& Experience:
- 1-2 years prior merchant risk experience preferred
- Accounting or business degree preferred – will consider comparable educational and/or work experience
- Customer service experience beneficial
- Strong analytical skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; decision-making skills and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information
- Strong computer skills, including Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office
